Director General of “Zvezdochka” ship repair yard in Severodvinsk, Arkhangelsk, Vladimir Nikitin, wants to establish a projecting bureau for platforms and other equipment for offshore oil and gas production.
-The establishment would be the right step towards the development of the Shtokman field, Nikitin said according to Arnews.ru. - We are lagging behind our foreign partners France and Norway on many areas when it comes to construction of equipment for offshore development.
Nikitin believes that a projecting bureau could unite production and scientific capacities in a way that will make Russia capable to produce more advanced equipment.
The projecting bureau will be developed by the joint Russian-Norwegian company “Zvezdochka Engineering” and based at shipyard nr.176 in Arkhangelsk.
- The basic agreements on the establishment are already made, and our company has all possibilities to carry this project through, Nikitin says.
In January General Director of the Sevmash shipyard in Severodvinsk, Nikolay Kalistratov, stated the need for establishment of a Russian projecting bureau for engineering of offshore platforms,BarentsObserver reported. As an example Kalistratov mentioned the building of the ice-strengthened platform “Prirazlomnaya”. The project plans for the platform were altered five times, leading to considerable delays in the completion.
