RF Federal Customs Service expands areas of cooperation

On July 1, 2009 four countries - Lithuania, Poland, Germany and Estonia will join the nine EU countries (Finland, Sweden, Czechia, Slovakia, Belgium, Austria, Hungary, Italy, Latvia), from which Russian Federal Customs Service (FCS) receives preliminary information in electronic format in real time.

The Head of the Economic Cooperation Department of the European Commission Representative Office in Russia, Hans Van Vlit, has emphasized that the full introduction of the new transit system will become a significant contribution to the further development and simplification of bilateral trade between Russia and the European Union, which are strategic trading partners. 

The Project "Modernization of the Transit Customs System in the Russian Federation" had a budget of 3 million Euro and was realized by a consortium of the European and Russian companies: Atos Origin (Belgium), Information Technologies Company (Russia), Lambert Management Consultants (Ireland), and Louis Berger SAS (France).
