Over the first five months of 2009, the Far East increased supplies of fish and seafood to the world market 10 times in comparison with the same period of 2008, Itar-Tass reports. Then the export amounted to 51,000 tons, and this year 467,000 tons of water biorecourses were delivered abroad, head of the Far Eastern Customs Department Sergei Pashsko said on Friday.
Customs duties on export of fish products increased more than 11 times, from 108 million roubles to 1.2 billion roubles. The positive dynamics of export of sea fishery products was mainly caused by coming into force of the Russian federal law on deliveries of water biological resources to the customs territory of Russia, as well as an increase of total permissible catches.
Over the five months of 2009, the customs bodies situated in the territory of the Far East registered 897 fishery fleet vessels for arriving in Russia, 510 of them - - with sea fishery products. Over the same period, 817 vessels were registered for departing from Russia. The main volume of sea fishery products is registered by the Vladivostok Customs Office (59 percent), the Kamchatka Customs Office (27 percent) and the Sakhalin Customs Office (11 percent).
Despite a considerable increase of the volume of sea fishery products and amount of sea vessels liable to customs registration, the fishery fleet managed to avoid unfounded standing idle.
