Shipping companies of the Odessa region in January-May, 2009 delivered 921,9 thousand tons, that 54% is down against similar period of last year. In obedience to data of companies, a slump is conditioned by a global financial and economical crisis, rolling up of world trade, including reduction of cargo deliveries in foreign voyage up by 45,5%.
On the whole for 5 months 2009 4,463 thousand ships were handled at sea ports of region, that 37,9% is down compared with January-May, 2008. In particular, ships' number of foreign proprietors and charterers decreased by 32,1% - to 3607 thousand.
In 2008 shipowners of the Odessa region shortened cargo transportation up 24,4% - to 4,5 million t, fleet handling in harbours reduced up 0,1% - to 16,1 thousand ships.
