National Container Company may put off introduction of Ust-Luga terminal because of cargo flow decline

National Container Company (NCC LLC) is eyeing putting off introduction of a container terminal in Ust-Luga port because of cargo flow decline caused by the crisis, Gudok cites NCC representative according to Interfax.

According to NCC representative, the decision will depend on cargo flow dynamics and on post-crisis market recovery.

Delivery of equipment for Ust-Luga terminal will start in the second half of 2009.

As it was reported earlier, NCC was going to launch the terminal in August 2009. According to initial schedule the terminal was to be introduced in December 2008, then it was put off till June 2009.

NCC started construction of Ust-Luga terminal in April 2007. When all the phases are put into operation the capcity of the terminal will make 3 mln TEU. Total volume of investments is planned at $800 mln till 2019.

Ust-Luga port is being built in Luga Bay of the Gulf of Finland.
