In the first quarter of 2009, Baltiysky Zavod OJSC (St. Petersburg) increased 53 times to RUR 104.241 mln, the company reports. In the reported period, the company’s revenue amounted to RUR 270.769 mln (-57%, year-on-year).
In 2008, the company’s net loss totaled RUR 1.015 bln (88-pct increase) against RUR 540.367 mln in 2007. In 2008, the company’s revenue fell to RUR 4.006 bln against RUR 4.036 bln in 2007.
Baltiysky Zavod was founded in 1856. Today the shipyard specializes in construction of naval ships of different class and rank as well as vessels with nuclear-powered propulsion. Priority direction in the sector of commercial vessels is construction of large-capacity tankers for transportation of oil and gas from the regions of northern seas, chemical tankers, icebreakers, vessels for carrying general cargo and hi-tech supply vessels. United Industrial Corporation (OPK) controls 88.2% of the yard’s shares. Authorized capital of Baltiysky Zavod OJSC totals RUR 264.440 mln.
