Primorsk Territory Governor Vladimir Miklushevsky calls Primorsk deputies to facilitate introduction of a ban on open storing of coal, press center of the regional Government says.
Viktor Gorchakov, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly, says the deputies are already busy with consideration of the bill.
“This work should be facilitated and the results are to be announced to the public. I stress there should be no open coal terminals. It should be taken into consideration at the phase of designing,” the head of the region said.
Vladimir Miklushevsky emphasized the significance of this issue in view of cooperation of the future terminal with other investment projects being implemented in the southern part of the region.
“Fishing cluster can also suffer in case of dust emissions into the air. Dust and fish are incompatible. The construction of the coal terminal should not prejudice other investment projects,” the Governor underlined.
The project on construction of a dedicated coal transshipment complex in the Sukhodol Bay is included into the federal special-purpose programme “Economic and Social Development of the Far East and the Baikal Region through 2018”. The terminal construction is to commence in March 2015 and to be implemented in three phases. Fully operational port is to handle 20 mln t of coal per year.
