In January-March of 2014 OJSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” transferred 5.1 mln Rubles for the implementation of the environmental programme which is by 1.8 times more than within the same period of 2013, the Company says in its press release.
Main part of the funds was transferred for the measures on protection of water resources. In particular the port performed works on treatment of waste waters, monitored the use of the coastal area, checked the quality of the natural waters and carried out the maintenance of the water treatment facilities.
The funds were also transferred for air protection. In order to ensure safe handling of production and consumption wastes the port maintained recording and disposal of wastes, monitored the areas of waste accumulation.
OJSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” (included in UCL Port – stevedoring division of the International transportation group UCL Holding) – is the largest operator, rendering services on handling of all types of dry cargoes in the Greater Port of Saint-Petersburg. It operates by modern specialized terminals for handling of ro-ro cargoes, cars and metals. In 2013 the turnover of OJSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” amounted to 7.8 mln. tons of cargoes.
