Oil exported by Caspian Pipeline Consortium up 11.8% to 22.95 mln t in Jan-Aug 09

In January-August 2009, the volume of oil exported by Caspian Pipeline Consortium increased by 11.8% to 22.95 million tonnes. In August 2009, oil shipment increased by 9.7%, year-on-year, to 2.83 million tonnes, RIA Novosti reports.

In 2008, CPC decreased shipment of export oil by 3.4%, year-on-year, to 31.5 million tonnes.


CPC owns Tengiz-Novorossiysk pipeline dedicated to transporting oil from the Tengiz oil field in western Kazakhstan to Russia's Black Sea coast (1,580 kilometers long). In 2008, it transported 31.47 million tonnes of oil. The project’s design capacity is 67 million tonnes of oil.

The interests of the CPC Founding Governments are as follows: Russia – 31%, Kazakhstan – 19%. Other shareholders: Chevron Caspian Pipeline Consortium Company - 15%, LUKARCO B.V. - 12,5%, Mobil Caspian Pipeline Company - 7,5%, Rosneft-Shell Caspian Ventures Limited - 7,5%, BG Overseas Holding Limited - 2%, Eni International N.A. N.V. - 2%, Kazakhstan Pipeline Ventures LLC - 1,75% and Oryx Caspian Pipeline LLC - 1,75%.
