Odessa Commercial Sea Port opens $10-mln ro-ro terminal

Odessa Commercial Sea Port has opened a new terminal for handling of ro-ro vessels, Oddesski Portovik newspaper refers to the engineer of the company’s construction service. According to the source, the new berth (N36) is 119.4 meters long, depth near wharf face – 9.75-12 meters, area of the berth territory – some 5,000 sq. meters, limit load per sq. meter – 4-10 tones depending on distance from the wharf face. 

The terminal is fitted with water and electric power pole, fire hydrant, detachable metal wheel guard etc. The construction took 15 months and cost UAH 83 mln (some $10 mln).

Odessa Commercial Seaport is one of the largest ports of the Black-Azov Sea Basin. Technical facilities of the port allow handling more than 14 million tons of dry cargoes and 14 million tons of oil products annually. In 2008 the company handled 34.5 million tonnes of cargo.
