Throughput of Temryuk and Kavkaz ports up 4.4% to 6.54 mln t in Jan-Aug 09

In January-August 2009, throughput of Temryuk and Kavkaz ports increased by 4.4% to 6.54 million tonnes, PortNews IAA learnt from the ports’ administration. According to the source, export accounts for 6.024 million tonnes of the total throughput (+13.5%). Import makes 428,580 tonnes (-40.63%, year-on-year). Export of general cargo totaled 533,630 tonnes, oil products – 2.12 million tonnes.
 
Throughput of railway ferry link in port Kavkaz amounted to 960,470 tonnes.

In the reported period, port Temryuk handled 1.48 million tonnes (-7.68%, year-on-year) including export of 74,970 tonnes of sawn timber,  88,688 tonnes of chemicals,  101,260 tonnes of non-ferrous metal, 1,059 tonnes of general cargo, 132,767 tonnes of grain and 29,368 tonnes of fertilizers.
 
Port Kavkaz is situated at the border of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov at KerchStrait from the side of Russia. The port is ice-free, so it is able to handle both river vessels (draft of up to 5 meters) and sea vessels (off-harbor handling of vessels with a draft of up to 11 meters). The port handles loose cargo, as well as general cargo and timber and containers.


Commercial seaport of Temryuk is located at Taman coast of the Sea of Azov. Total length of the port’s berths is 1200 running meters. Major type of cargo handled at the port is the general cargo: round timber, timber materials, metal, as well as out-of-gage load and foodstuffs.
