In January-August 2009, the port of Klaipeda (Lithuania) handled 17.840.748 million tonnes of cargo (-13.7%, year-on-year), the port’s administration informs. In the reported period, the port’s container throughput fell by 34.4%, year-on-year, to 162,293 TEUs, transshipment of Ro Ro cargo fell by 20% to 115,018 units, transshipment of liquid bulk cargo fell by 7.4% to 7.160.7 million tonnes, dry bulk – by 12.2% to 5.839.227 million tonnes, general cargo – by 23% to 4.840.820 million tonnes.
