Approximately 225 trucks and vehicles loaded on Alliance St. Louis. About 75 percent of them arrived via railroad and transferred at the terminal’s on-dock rail.
“This direct rail-to-ro/ro transfer provides the efficient rolling stock transportation needed for military deployments and retrograde,” said Rick Boyle, vice president of U.S. flag transportation services at MLL.
MLL, an American company, based in Norfolk, Va., operates the Alliance St. Louis and her sister ship Alliance Norfolk through an arrangement with Höegh Autoliners and Alliance Navigation, its U.S. affiliate. Both ships have the capacity of 6,500 car-equivalent units and over 580,000 square feet of total stowage space, and participate in the Maritime Security Program and the Voluntary Intermodal Sealift Agreement.
