In January-March, 2015, seaport Yuzhny (Ukraine) handled 4% 11,932,500 t of cargo (+4%, year-on-year), says Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority.
Coal transshipment increased by 43% to 1,587,000 t, ore – by 12% to 6,237,700 t, vegetable oil – by 11% to 259,500 t. In the reported period, the port handled 296 vessels.
Yuzhny port is located at the north-western coast of the Black Sea, in ice-free Maly Adzhalyksky (Grigorievsky) estuary, 30 km from Odessa port. The port’s approach channel is 3 miles long and 18.5 meters deep. The port’s major stevedoring company is the state-owned Commercial Sea Port Yuzhny.
