In January-March 2015, port Kavkaz handled 3.559 mln t of cargo, up 3 times, year-on-year, Acting Harbour Master of port Kavkaz Sergei Naumov told IAA PortNews.
Exports from port Kavkaz increased 2.5 times due to favorable weather. 1.382 mln t was handled at the off-harbour transshipment complex of port Kavkaz, 122,000 t – at the port.
In the reported period, imports fell 3 times to 44,000 t as Crimea and Ukraine used to account for the majority of imports.
Transshipment of coastal trade cargo surged over 160 times: from 12,000 t in QI'14 to 1,926,000 t in QI'15.
Bunker sales at the port doubled to 84,500 t.
Passenger turnover jumped 4.2 times to 418,000 passenger.
2,846 calls were registered in the two-month period of 2015, twice as much as in QI'14.
Port of Kavkaz is situated between the Azov and the Russian Black Sea coast. The depth of 4.5 meters allows for handling river boats and seagoing ships (off the harbour). The port’s facilities are intended for handling bulked cargoes (mineral fertilizers, concentrates of various ores, grain) as well as general, timber, and containerized goods. In 2014, the port handled 10.17 mln t of cargo.
