RS at RAO/CIS Offshore 2015

Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) has taken part in RAO/CIS Offshore 2015, 12-th International Conference and Exhibition for Oil and Gas Resources Development of the Russian Arctic and CIS Continental Shelf, RS says. Mr. Pavel Shikhov, RS Chief Operating Officer, spoke at the round table “Development of the Fleet for Shelf Oil and Gas Exploration” held on 15 September, 2015 within the frame of the Conference.

In his report, Mr. Shikhov informed of the RS activities, highlighting the role of maritime transport infrastructure in realization of offshore oil and gas projects. ”Various types of ships are used at all stages of offshore development: from seismic survey, exploration drilling and field facility construction to the transportation of mined resources, provision of safe and ecologically-friendly field operation”, noted Mr. Shikhov.

RS renders services for the classification of ships and offshore installations, verification of their compliance with the applicable national and international requirements covering the entire life cycle, from design to safe disposal, and is an essential link of fleet construction for offshore development.

Mr. Shikhov also specified a number of advantages offered to oil and gas companies by their cooperation with RS. It is, primarily, the up-to-date normative basis covering to all oil and gas field facilities, including those capable of operating in the Arctic region. Moreover, RS is an experienced participant to all large scale offshore projects implemented in the Russian Federation from the Baltic Sea to the Sea of Okhotsk, from the Kara Sea to the Caspian and Black Seas. In addition, Mr. Shikhov emphasized high quality services rendered by RS thanks to the qualified RS personnel and the effective personnel training system.

“Thus, in the name of RS, the RF oil and gas industry has a reliable, internationally recognized partner in the field of classification, certification and verification, able to assist rapid growth of Russian oil and gas companies, including offshore development,” said Mr. Shikhov.
