A certain number of the first day envelopes with souvenir stamps dedicated to the centenary of the RS Scientific and Technical Council that were sent by ‘50 Let Pobedy’ icebreaker for cancellation at the North Pole post office have returned to the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS), IAA PortNews reports.
The stamps and the envelopes have been handed over by Dmitry Lobusov, Captain of the ‘50 Let Pobedy’ icebreaker.
A first day ceremony dedicated to the centenary of the RS Scientific and Technical Council (STC) took place at the Head Office of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping on 10 February 2015. The ceremony included franking of envelopes stamped with a souvenir block of 4 stamps.The stamps feature RS-classed icebreakers: the world’s first Arctic icebreaker Yermak, the world’s first nuclear icebreaker Lenin, 50 Let Pobedy, currently the greatest and most powerful icebreaker in the world and the Headquarters building of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.
The block run is 500 copies.
