Borouge and Maersk Line commit to reduce CO2 emissions of their shipments by 15%

Innovative petrochemical company Borouge signed a Carbon Pact with Maersk Line as part of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week showcasing its strong commitment to sustainability, Maersk said in its press release.

Besides being the first plastics producer in the Middle East to sign the Carbon Pact with Maersk Line, this agreement also enables Borouge to deliver its products globally to customers and markets with the lowest possible environmental footprint.

Borouge and Maersk Line intend to collaborate in creating transparency on the environmental impact of Borouge’s supply chain and reducing Borouge’s CO2 emissions from its ocean transportation with Maersk Line by 15% from 2016 to 2020. A major part of this business partnership will also be the development of tools and practices of integrating CO2 and other sustainability indicators into the commercial supplier relationship.
