ITC Rubis invests in rail facilities
The chemicals and petroleum handler ITC Rubis has built an installation in the port of Antwerp that makes it possible to pump C3 and C4 gases directly from ship to tanker truck, thus avoiding the need for intermediary tank storage.
According to Port of Antwerp press release, the investment offers the additional benefit that large transport volumes are taken off the roads and shifted to rail instead, thus helping to reduce CO2 emissions in the port.
To take further advantage of this ITC Rubis has expanded its existing rail facilities so that one ship can pump into four tanker trucks simultaneously. The company has also laid extra tracks along the whole length of the terminal.
ITC Rubis is the only location in the port of Antwerp where such direct operations are possible.
