In January-June, 2016, cargo turnover of Russia’s inland water transport increased by 25%, year-on-year, to 26.3 bln t-km, says statistics of Federal Marine and River Transport Agency (Rosmorrechflot).
The volume of dispatched cargo decreased by 7.6% (38.95 mln t) due to lower internal traffic. Transportation of foreign trade cargo increased by 13.3%.
Shipments to the Far North regions grew by 4.4%, or 5.3 mln t, against the 6-months period of 2015.
Passenger traffic fell by 7.2% while the turnover of passengers climbed by 10.9% to 182.8 mln pas-km.
