Port Kavkaz seven-month cargo volumes up 7% to 14, 34 million tonnes

Freight traffic at Russia's southern region's Port Kavkaz between January and July 2016 totaled 14,34 million tonnes, an increase of 7% from the same period of 2015, IAA PortNews regional reporter said citing the Kavkaz Port Harbourmaster Evgeny Tuzinkevich.

Of the volume 4,638 million tonnes of export cargo were handled at offshore transshipment location (- 22% below last year's figure).

In the reporting period handling of oil products rose 48% to 7,241 million tonnes. The volume of sulfur and fertilizers increased by 42% to 1,267 million tonnes, grain and cereal crops shipment – by 18% to 1,425 million tonnes. Handling of LPG fell 10% to 113,000 tonnes.

Outbound cargo volume of the Port Kavkaz in the seven-month period dropped 27% to 281,000 tonnes and inbound cargo plummeted 4.5 times to 52,000 tonnes, while coastal traffic jumped by 33% to 8,841 million tonnes.

Passenger traffic at the port rose by 33% to 3,190,667 people.

The volume of bunker fuels supplied at the port fell 32% to 217,000 tonnes.

The Port Kavkaz Harbourmaster said there were 14,269 ship calls registered in January -July, 36% more than in 2015.
