Port of Tallinn opens passenger terminal A renovated arrivals hall

In the week of Estonia’s Centenary, Port of Tallinn opened passenger terminal A arrivals hall with a renewed interior design, the Port of Tallinn said in a press release.

According to Port of Tallinn’s CEO Valdo Kalm Old City Harbour’s passenger terminals service more than ten million passengers a year, one third of them arrives through passenger terminal A. „Our passenger terminals are the first meeting point for tourists creating the first impression about our country and capital. With the new interior design we wished to give Estonia’s biggest tourist gate a modern and cosy look,“ described Kalm.

The new interior Design of the A-terminal arrivals hall is inspired by the theme of Estonian nature, which is skilfully combined with today’s modern elements.

The lower part of the arrivals hall is dynamic, telling an easily understandable story about Tallinn and Estonia, retold by the symbolic shapes. Town Hall, lynx, yacht, TV tower, junipers, swallows, bogs, cobble stones of the Old Town and other simple symbols, which are juxtaposed and give the opportunity to find both, already familiar symbols and the ones yet to discover.

The symbols are illuminated with constantly moving and changing lights, which alternately turn on and off and change colour, highlighting the different shapes and creating an intriguing dynamic.

The upper part of the room stresses feelings and stories about the values of the brand Estonia. The sensation created by the Estonian flora and bogs and the sun beams shimmering through tree branches. When entering the hall passengers are welcomed by the green floating islands, which catch the eye and refer to the Estonian green way of thinking.

The new interior design was developed by BrandEleven and the construction works were largely carried out by the staff of the maintenance department of the Port of Tallinn.

The passenger terminal A services passengers of Viking Line, Eckerö Line and Moby SPL.
