Seaports of Ukraine handled 54.3 million tonnes of cargo in 5M’18, down 2.1% Y-o-Y

In January-May 2018, seaports of Ukraine handled 54.3 million tonnes of cargo, down 2.1%, year-on-year, says press center of Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority.

According to the statement, the decline should be attributed to decreased transshipment of grain (-4.9%) amid unfavorable prices in the global market and deceased transshipment of ore (-15.5%) due to reduced production.

Transshipment of import cargo grew by 16% to 9 million tonnes (vs 7.8 million tonnes in 5M’17) including 3 million tonnes of ore (+17.8%) and 2.4 million tonnes of coal (+4.1%).

Transshipment of export cargo totaled 39.7 million tonnes (-7.3%, year-on-year) including 6.8 million tonnes of ferrous metal (+18%).

Transshipment of transit cargo grew by 11.2% to 4.8 million tonnes.

Container throughput totaled 325 TEUs.
