In January 2007, cargo turnover of the port of Arkhangelsk totaled 256.914 thou tons (-32.1%), PortNews IAA learnt from the port’s Administration. Over the reported period the port’s stevedoring companies accepted 25.634 thou tons of cargo (+95.2%, year-on-year) including 13.304 thou tons of imported cargo (+21.6%), 12.329 thou tons of coastal trade cargo (5.6-fold growth, year-on-year). Import of containerized cargo totaled 2.083 thou tons (- 39.8%), other general cargo - 11.22 thou tons (+50.1%). Volume of incoming coastal trade cargo totaled 12.329 thou tons (only general cargo).
Besides, volume of shipped cargo amounted to 231.28 thou tons (-36.7%), including 34.165 thou tons of export (-71.5%), 197.116 thou tons coastal trade cargo (-19.8%, year-on-year). Container turnover fell by 69.9% to 0.542 thou tons, timber – by 19.6%to 26.311 thou tons, metal scrap – by 79.4% to 4.796 thou tons, cellulose – by 74.5% to 2.514 thou tons. Outgoing coastal trade cargo included 172.129 thou tons of oil and oil products (-22.8%, year-on-year), 0.651 thou tons of machines and equipment (-31.5%), 13.527 thou tons of metal (+24.5%). Container turnover in outgoing coastal trade cargo decreased by 0.1% до 9.160 thou tons. Volume of other general cargo amounted to 1.647 thou tons (-10.1%, year-on-year).
Seaport of Arkhangelsk accepts vessels with a draft of up to 9.2 meters, length of up to 175 meters, breadth of up to 30 meters. The port comprises 151 berths with a total length of 17548 meters, including 31 berths of timber industry companies, 22 berths of sea trade port, 6 berths of the river port, 3 berths of Rosneft- Arkhangelsknefteproduct OJSC engaged in export of oil and oil products, 2 berths of the fishing port and 87 minor berths of other companies. Arkhangelsk port is crossed by cargo transit lines from Europe to the states of the Far, Middle and Near East.
