Rosmorrechflot suggests obliging companies controlled and supported by the state to deploy Russian-flagged ships
Federal Marine and River Transport Agency (Rosmorrechflot) suggests that companies controlled by the state and companies provided with state support be obliged to deploy vessels sailing under the flag of the Russian Federation for transportation of their cargoes. That was said by Yury Tsvetkov, Deputy Minister of Transport – head of Rosmorrechflot, when asked by IAA PortNews correspondent after the meeting of RF Government’s Marine Board.
According to him, just about 2% of Russia’s foreign trade cargo is carried by Russian-flagged ships, hence the task to increase their share. No regulation has been prepared by the Agency yet.
As Aleksey Klyavin, President of the Russian Chamber of Shipping, told journalists, to attract vessels to the flag of the Russian Federation it is also necessary to get rid of overlapping regulations and to ease some formalities.
