LUKOIL has won a bid for purchase of a $1 billion Europoort refinery of Netherlands
LUKOIL has won a tender for purchase of a $1 billion Europoort refinery of Netherlands. This information has been provided by Finmarket with reference to Vedomosti. The refinery belongs to the state Kuwait Petroleum Corporation. It is able to refine 80 thou barrels per day (about 4 million tons per year), that makes 7% of total Netherlands refining. Kuwait Petroleum International considered 15 bids for acquisition of the refinery. The bidders have not been named, though it is known they included state oil companies from Europe and Latin America as well as a number of private companies. LUKOIL company has won the tender. The deal to finalize in October-November. Gennadij Krasovskij, representative of LUKOIL neither confirmed nor denied this information. According to him, the company is interested in acquisition of new refining facilities, including Еuropoort plant. Sven Fen Alpena, KPI manager, refused to comment this non-finalized deal. The refinery is estimated by the expert to cost as much as $1 billion.
