Kazakhstan to double its park of vessels by 2012
The amount of river and sea vessels in Kazakhstan will double by 2012, believes the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic, RZD-Partner reports according to Interfax.
“According to the forecasts of the state enterprise “Shipping Register”, till 2012 the amount of vessels of «river» and “river-sea” types will increase to 966 units in Kazakhstan, i.e. practically twofold”, said the Ministry in its report. Nowadays, the Shipping Register includes 720 vessels, out of which 493 units may be used. The rest 227 vessels may not be used because of technical faultiness, and only 89 of them are being repaired. According to the Ministry, the main targets of the Shipping Register are implementation of the quality management system, joining to the international association of technical inspectorate and classification bodies. To develop the enterprise, it is planned to develop an automated data base, to improve normative and legislative base that will enable to put into operation fee services and certify production.
