According to chief operating officer Ron Konezny, PeopleNet’s revenue increased by 31% in 2006, maintaining the company’s position as the fastest growing provider of intelligent onboard communications and fleet management solutions in North America.
PeopleNet attributes its revenue increase entirely to the growth of its existing customers and the addition of 197 new customers.
Approximately 50% of new business came from for-hire fleets, and 50% from private fleets. New fleets were distributed across dry van, tanker, refrigerated, flat-bed, dedicated, LTL and specialty carriers. Nearly a third of new units signed converted from older, first generation onboard computing or mobile communications systems.
In related news, PeopleNet has announced another new customer, Greatwide Dedicated Transport, which operates North America’s fourth largest refrigerated fleet.
Greatwide Dedicated Transport will introduce PeopleNet into the dedicated fleets it operates for some of the largest companies in North America. Greatwide is also testing PeopleNet’s eDriver Logs® automated driver log solution with owner-operators at select locations. Owner-operators comprise the bulk of the company’s fleet.
