Throughput of the port of Tallinn up 16% in Q1 07

In the first quarter of 2007 Tallinna Sadam (the port of Tallinn) handled 11.586 million tons of cargo (+16%, year-on-year), RZD-Partner reports. Transshipment of transit cargo grew by 19% to 10.449 million tons. Import increased by 11% - to 738.5 thou tons. Export fell by 17% to 638.9 thou tons. Over the reported period the port handled 6.892 thou tons of liquid bulk cargo (+8.7%, year-on-year), 3.318 million tons of dry bulk cargo (+51%), 842 thou tons of ro-ro cargo (+13%). Transshipment of coal grew by 42% to 2 million tons, grain – 15-fold to 509 thou tons, containerized cargo - 8.4% to 329.8 thou tons. Over the reported period the port serviced 1.109 million passengers (+3.2%, year-on-year). In March 2007 the port of Tallin handled 4.065 million tons of cargo.
