RoK firms plan to invest in large seaport
The Handong E&C company from the Republic of Korea (RoK) on Apr. 5 worked with the People's Committee of southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province on a project to build an international seaport in the locality.
The proposed seaport is expected to cover 800 ha at the Cai Mep-Thi Vai port complex in Tan Thanh district.
Park Young Suk, chief representative of Handong E&C in Viet Nam, said three big RoK companies, namely Dongbu Express, Halla E&C and Posco E&C which specialise in seaport design, construction and operation, had agreed to cooperate with Handong E&C to carry out the project.
A number of banks and the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the RoK also agreed to fund and support the project, he said.
The company calculated that it will cost around 500 million USD to prepare the site for the project..
