Russia’s main naval force in the 21st century will be its Pacific Fleet, First Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov said on Friday, Itar-Tass reports.
“As far as the Navy is concerned, all problems are not there (on the Western borders), but here,” Ivanov said. “There is nobody to be at odds with there. Here, in the Pacific, risks are far more numerous.”
“True, there is NATO, but our relations are not bad at all. There is a system of agreements and there mechanisms that are absolutely absent from the Pacific,” Ivanov said.
