Throughput of the port of Klaipeda (Lithuania) up 12.6% in Q1 07, y-o-y

In January-March 2007, the port of Klaipeda (Lithuania) handled 6.32 million tons of cargo (+12.6%, year-on-year), RZD-Partner reports. The highest growth rates were demonstrated in the sector of bulk fertilizers (loading grew by 45.2%), containers (+32.8%) and ro-ro cargo (+20.7%). Increase in volume of liquid bulk cargo should be attributed to growing transshipment of oil products - +17.1% to 2 million tons. In March the port handled 2.23 million tons of cargo.
