One more oil spill nearly 1km wide with unknown length has appeared around 30 miles east of the coast of southern city of Vung Tau.
This oil spill was discovered by a ship of the Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (Vinashin) on April 9.
This morning, April 10, Vung Tau authorities have sent a boat to the oil spill area to define the volume, type of oil and the moving direction to undertake suitable measures.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has proposed the Prime Minister to invite international organizations, especially those from Japan, to take part in seeking the source of the oil spill.
In related news, aquatic products have died massively in many provinces in the Mekong Delta and in the central region because of oil spills, causing losses of billions of dong for fishermen.
