Throughput of Ukrainian ports up 22% in Q1 07, y-o-y
In January-March 2007, throughput of Ukraine’s sea and river ports grew by 22.3%, year-on-year, State Statistics Committee reports according to Delo referring to Reuters. Over the reported period transportation of internal cargo grew 2.6 times, transit – by 41.9%, import – by 17.9%, export – by 2.1%.
In the first quarter Ukrainian ports handled 4.7 thou of foreign vessels including (+17.9%, year-on-year).
In 2006, throughput of Ukraine’s sea and river ports grew by 3.7%, year-on-year, to 157.5 million tons. According to Ukraine’s Ministry of Transport, there are 21 sea ports and морской 8 river ports in the country.
Late in 2006, Ukrainian Government decided to integrate all national seaports into a state concern Ukrmorport.
