Best Russian nuclear subs to be deployed in the Far East

The Commander of the Pacific Fleet of Russian Navy Admiral Victor Fedorov publicly stated that he “can confirm that the two newest strategic submarines of the 4-th generation will be commissioned with the Pacific Fleet. "Alexander Nevsky" and "Vladimir Monomah" (the second and the third subs in the series) which are under construction at Sevmash will be deployed in the Far East. “This will take place after 2010”. Project 955 is further modernization of the project 667А and its modifications (B, BD, BDR, BDRM). Basic characteristics of the 955 project are close to those of 667BDRM. 955 is to become the core of the naval deterrence power. The ceremony of putting it in the water was attended by the First Vice-Premier Sergey Ivanov, the Commander of the Vladimir Masorin, Deputy Minister of Defense and Chief of Arms general Alexey Msokovksy, the Mayor Moscow Yuri Luzhkov, General Director of Sevmash Vladimir Pastuhov, the Governor of Arkhangelsk region Nikolay Kiselyov as well as by the heads of the shipbuilding enterprises.
