Throughput of the port of Yeisk (Ukraine) doubles in Q1 07, y-o-y

In January-March 2007, the port of Yeisk handled 1 054.8 thou tons of cargo (2-fold growth, year-on-year), Krasnodar region administration reports. Over the reported period the port handled 1 047.2 thou tons of dry cargo (2.1-fold growth, year-on-year). Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo decreased 2.2 times to 7.6 thou tons. Throughput of the port’s largest stevedoring company Yeisk Seaport OJSC totaled 332.5 thou tons (+41.7%, year-on-year) including 324.9 thou tons of dry cargo (+7.1%) and 7.6 thou tons of liquid bulk cargo.

Commercial seaport of Yeisk was built in 1904 in the South-Eastern part of the Taganrog Bay of the Sea of Azov. The port specializes in transshipment of export and import cargo in the direction of the ports of the Black and Mediterranean Sea Basins. The port accepts service-and-river going vessels with a draft of up to 4.5 meters and displacement of up to 5 thou tons. The port’s facilities are capable of handling 3 million tons of cargo per year. Five stevedoring company operate at the port of Yeaisk.
