Throughput of the port of Vladivostok down 4.4% to 2.7 million tons

In January-March 2007, the port of Vladivostok handled 2 747.2 thou tons of cargo (-4.4%, year-on-year), the port’s administration reports. Transshipment of dry cargo totaled 2 251.3 thou tons (-5.9%, year-on-year), liquid bulk cargo – 495.9 thou tons (+3.6%). Throughput of the port’s largest stevedoring company Vladivostok Commercial Seaport OJSC amounted to 906.5 thou tons (-18.2%), including 847.2 thou tons of dry cargo (-17.6%) and 59.3 thou tons of liquid bulk cargo (-25.2%).

Vladivostok is Russia’s largest port at the coast of the Pacific Ocean. It is located at the North-West coast of the Sea of Japan. The port occupies the complete territory of the Boshporus-Vostochni Strait and its bays (Zolotoi Rog, Diomid, Uliss, Novick), as well as a part of the harbor waters of the Amur Bay. The port’s navigation lasts throughout the year. The depth at the approaches to the inner anchorage enables the port to accept vessels with a draft of up to 19 meters.
