Investments into the port of Aktau to exceed $100 million in 2007
In 2007, investments into the project on extension of the port of Aktau (Kazakhstan) will exceed $100 million, Interfax reports according to RZD-Partner. According to Balat Zhangusurov, head of commercial department of Aktau International Commercial Seaport, the project’s value is to total $255 million. Construction started in 2006 being funded by Kazakhstan’s Bank of Development. According to Zhangusurov, the project is to be finalized by 2010 which will increase the port’s capacity in transshipment of oil products to 20 million tons from current 12 million tons, dry cargo – to 3 million tons from 1.5 million tons.
