The European Commission approves the State’s financial contribution to Maasvlakte II
The European Commission has approved the State’s financial contribution to Maasvlakte II. The share ownership in the Port of Rotterdam Authority and the financial contribution towards the construction do not contravene European regulations on state aid.
Minister Maria van der Hoeven of Economic Affairs and Transport Minister Camiel Eurlings are pleased with this decision, because the project offers a solution to the lack of space for ports and industry. The Port of Rotterdam Authority has already started to invite tenders and wants to award the contracts this autumn. The State is paying € 500 million for new shares in the Port Authority.
