Cargo handling of Nikolayev Commercial Seaport up 16.9% in Q1 07, y-o-y

In January-March 2007 Commercial Seaport of Nikolayev increased cargo handling by 16.9% from 1.321 million tons to 1.544 million tons, the company’s press center reports according to delo.ua. Transshipment of loose dry cargo totaled 1099.5 thou tons, metal goods - 282 thou tons, oil products - 162.5 thou tons. In 2006, Commercial Seaport of Nikolayev increased cargo handling by 14.8%, year-on-year to 6.38 million tons. Transshipment of metal goods amounted to 882.4 thou tons, cast iron - 41.5 thou tons, oil products - 292.4 thou tons.

Commercial Seaport of Nikolayev specializes in transshipment of grain, potassium fertilizers, coal, ore, timber and metal. It has 11 berths excluding 3 berths under construction. The port covers the territory of 94 hectares, its harbor waters - 225 hectares, the berths are 10.5 meters deep, railway line is 24.6 meters long, approach canal is 10.5 meters deep. The port has 36 cranes and 89 autoloaders (1.5 ton – to 25 ton). The port was founded in 1862.
