Two liner conferences involved in the Europe/Middle East and Europe/Indian subcontinent trades have announced planned rate increases for July 1 through Sept. 30. Shipping lines in the India Pakistan Bangladesh Ceylon Conference — covering the trade to and from ports in the United Kingdom, North Continent, Scandinavia, Baltic and Mediterranean with ports in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka — are seeking an extra $50 per TEU for the eastbound trade. Carriers in the Europe Middle East Rate Agreement — covering the same regions in Europe as the IPBCC with ports in the Middle East, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Iraq — are pushing for an increase of $100 per TEU in the westbound trade and another $50 per TEU in the opposite direction. EMERA carriers are ANL, CMA CGM, CSAV Norasia, Hamburg Sud, Hapag-Lloyd, Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL), MacAndrews, Maersk Line, Safmarine and United Arab Shipping Co. (UASC). IPBCC lines are ANL, CMA-CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, Evergreen Line, Hamburg Sud, ?Line, MacAndrews, Maersk Line, MISC Berhad, CSAV Norasia, Pakistan National Shipping Corp., Rickmers-Linie, Safmarine, Shipping Corp. of India, UASC, Yang Ming and Zim.
