Cargo handling of Vostochny Port (Far East) up 2% in Jan-May, 07, y-o-y

According to preliminary data provided by Vostochny Port OJSC, in January-May 2007 the company handled 6.455.5 million tonnes of different cargo (+2%, year-on-year). In May 2007, Vostocny Port OJSC handled 1.520 million tonnes of cargo (+1%, year-on-year). In the 5-month period, Specialized Coal Complex handled 6.042.4 million tonnes of coal (+1%, year-on-year). In May – 1.394.3 million tonnes of cargo (-3%).In January-May 2007, Multi-purpose Production-and-Transshipment Complex (PPК-1) handled 413.1 thou tonnes of different cargo (+26%, year-on-year). In May 2007, PPK-1 handled 125.7 thou tonnes of cargo (+60%, year-on-year).  “The highest growth of throughput is demonstrated by Multi-purpose Production-and-Transshipment Complex,” Sergei Kushnarev, Director General of Vostochny Port says. “Early in 2007 we set ourselves a task to ensure maximal loading of PPK-1 and we managed to increase its throughput 3.5-fold within five months. Specialized Coal Complex has also demonstrated good results. Correct management and production process optimization enables the company to keep stable throughput dynamics.”  Vostochny Port LLC is the largest stevedoring company of Russia’s Far East. It specializes mainly in transshipment of coal. The structure of Vostochny Port LLC comprises Specialized Coal Complex and Multi-purpose Production-and-Transshipment Complex specializing in transshipment of general and bulk cargo (clinker, coal, coke, iron-ore concentrate, timber etc.). It also handles metal, cellulose, chemicals, long-size and heavy cargo. 

In 2006, transshipment complexes of Vostochny Port LLC handled over 16 million tonnes of different cargo. Specialized Coal Complex handled 15.15 million tonnes of cargo. Multi-purpose Production-and-Transshipment Complex transshipped 1.5 million tonnes of different cargo.  In 2006, stevedoring company Vostochny port LLC handled 15.31 million tonnes of export coal 318.6 thou tonnes of coastal trade coal, 218.3 thou tonnes of timber. The share of export coal in total cargo turnover made 95.3% in 2006.
