Transcor International and Verbeke Bunkering buy Hemiksem terminal

A Belgium bunker player is involved in acquiring storage facilities in Antwerp. The terminal operator Vopak said this week it had sold its Hemiksem terminal to a joint venture made up of Transcor International and Verbeke Bunkering.
It said the transfer would take effect after the first phase of Vopak’s new Linkeroever Terminal became operational next year. Few details of the deal have been given, but reports on the energy news service Platts said Transcor would enlarge the 115,000 cubic metre (cbm) chemical storage facility to 150,000 cbm.
"The aim is for 50% of the facility to be for dirty products and 50% for clean products," a source at Transcor International was quoted as saying. Transcor International is a subsidiary of the Transcor Astra Group, a trading and logistic group with a presence in the oil and gas markets.
Verbeke Bunkering has its own fleet of barges operating in the ARA (Antwerp-Rotterdam-Amsterdam) hub. It already has on-shore storage facilities in Antwerp, according to its website.
Verbeke Bunkering, contacted by Bunkerworld, said it had nothing to add to the reports that had already appeared.
