Port of Tauranga expects 26 ship calls a year more after a change in service

Port of Tauranga says it expects a further 26 ship calls a year after a change in service by an international shipping consortium. The Oceania Vessel Sharing Agreement, comprising Hamburg Sud, Hapag-Lloyd and Maersk Line, is introducing a new fortnightly service providing a southbound connection from the North American west coast. Much of the import cargo was expected to be destined for Auckland, where Port of Tauranga had an inland terminal.
