Throughput of Odessa Commercial Seaport up18% in Jan-May, 07, y-o-y

In May 2007, Commercial Seaport of Odessa, Ukraine’s largest seaport, handled 2.54 million tonnes of cargo (+4.6%, y-o-y), the port’s administration reports ac RBC-Ukraine. Handling of liquid bulk cargo grew by 17.2% to 1.4 million tonnes while transshipment of dry bulk cargo decreased by 7.6% to 1.14 million tonnes.  Transshipment of oil grew by 22.5%, containers – by 14.9%, coal – 2.7-fold. In January-May 2007, the port’s throughput grew by 18% to 13.9 million tonnes. In 2006 throughput of Odessa Commercial Seaport grew by 4.3% to 28.1 million tonnes, the port’s net profit increased by 5% to 127.5 million hryvnias.
