Throughput of the port of Liepaja (Latvia) down 1.4% in Jan-May, 07, y-o-y

In January-May 2007, throughput of the port of Liepaja (Latvia) totaled 1.699 million tonnes (-1.4%, year-on-year), RZD-Partner reports. Transshipment of loose dry cargo made 753.6 thou tonnes (+12.2%, year-on-year) including 457.9 thou tonnes of grain (+38.4%). Transshipment of general cargo amounted to 577.6 thou tonnes (-6.6%) including 282.4 thou tonnes of ferrous metal and goods made of ferrous metal (-1.8%), 222.2 thou tonnes of timber (-12.1%).

Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo totaled 367.7 thou tonnes (-15.2%) including 269 thou tonnes of oil products (-20.3%), 80.6 thou tonnes of crude oil (-7.4%). The highest volume was hndled by stevedoring company Liepajas osta LM - 535.7 thou tonnes (+13.4%), then comes TransWide Service - 247.5 thou tonnes (+14.3%) and DG Terminвls - 161.9 thou tonnes (-0.4%).

In 2006 году the port’s throughput totaled 4.001 million tonnes (-0.5 million tonnes, or -11.3%, year-on-year).
