Danish feeder operator Unifeeder is sold to the British based equity fund Montagu for a sum reported to be around EUR 400 million. The company has been sold by the founders Peter Bohnsen and Tonny Dalhøj Paulsen, who in a joint statement says: “This has not been an easy decision for us. After 30 years of development it is now time for us to hand over the responsibility”. Jesper Kristensen, the former head of German, Baltic and Russian operation, becomes the new Chief Executive of Unifeeder. The company has around 200 employees and is the world's largest dedicated feeder operator with a fleet of 42 container ships lifting some 1.5 million TEU per annum calling 25 ports in the Nordic and Baltic regions and Russia. Unifeeder is the second shipping house, which has been sold to an equity fund lately. Last week shipsupplier Wrist Group was sold to a Swedish equity fund.
