In January-May 2007, throughput of Russian stevedoring companies totaled 180.5 million tonnes (+9.3%, year-on-year), Association of Commercial Seaports states in its press release. Over 46% of total throughput falls on the ports of the North-West basin, 37% - Southern basin, while Far Eastern ports account for 17%. In the reported period transshipment of liquid bulk cargo grew by 9.8% to 106.78 million tonnes, dry cargo – by 8.7% to 73.68 million tonnes. Liquid/dry cargo ratio makes 60%/40% respectively. Throughput of stevedoring companies operating in the North-West basin grew by 14% to 83 million tones. In January-May 2007 they handled over 51.1 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (+13%) and 31.9 million tonnes of dry cargo (+15%). Throughput of Primorsk Commercial Seaport totaled exceeded 30 million tonnes (+18%), stevedoring companies of St. Petersburg – 23 million tonnes (+15%), Murmansk – 10.2 million tonnes (-9.5%). Stevedoring companies operating in the Southern basin handled 67 million tonnes of cargo (+2.6%) including over 20 million tonnes of dry cargo (+11.2%) and 46.1 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (-0.8%). Stevedoring companies of the port of Novorossiysk account for 71.5% of cargo volume. As of today, Novorossiysk is Russia's largest port complex. Its throughput amounted to 47.94 million tonnes (+1.4%) including 36.7 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (+0.4%) and 11.2 million tonnes of dry cargo (+4.8%). Stevedoring companies of the port of Tuapse handled over 8.1 million tonnes (-6.6%).Far East region has overcome its negative dynamics: in Jan-May, 07, throughput of the region’s stevedoring companies grew by 13% to 30.4 million tonnes owing to high growth in transshipment of liquid bulk cargo (+70% to 9.55 million tonnes). Transshipment of dry cargo totaled 20.8 million tonnes (-1.8%). Considerable growth in transshipment of liquid bulk cargo was demonstrated by EXXON NEFTEGAZ terminal in De-Kastri Bay: 4.6 million tonnes in 5 months. The region’s largest port complex is Vostochny. It handled almost 8.56 million tonnes (+5%). Total throughput of Nakhodka amounted to 5.5 million tonnes (-17.6%), Vladivostok – 3.8 million tonnes (-3.1%). In May 2007, throughput of Russian stevedoring companies grew by 40 million tonnes as compared with April. In January-April 2007, Russian seaports handled 141. 4 million tonnes of cargo (+9.3%, year-on-year). Handling of liquid bulk cargo surged by 9.8% to over 83.9 million tonnes, dry cargo - by 8.5% to 57.4 million tonnes.
