In August 2007, IPP OJSC (part of Novorossiysk Commercial Seaport, NCS) plans to put its bunker transshipment complex into operation in the port of Novorossiysk, Interfax reports according to Expert. Test shipment of bunkering tankers is currently going on at the complex, the source says.The complex is to transship 600 thou tonnes of bunker fuel and 48 thou tonnes of diesel fuel per year. Total capacity of the new tank farm is 11,000 m3 including two 5,000- m3 tanks for bunker fuel and one 1,000- m3 for diesel fuel. The complex is fitted with equipment for heating and discharge of oil products, automatic system for permanent control of technological equipment and automatic fire-fighting equipment.NCS has already invested $18.217 million. According to IPP representative, the advantages of the terminal is the possibility to store necessary volumes of bunker fuel and its direct delivery to the berth by pipeline (without oil tank trucks). Such logistics chain decreases the costs and ecological risks. IPP OJSC specializes in export-import operations with liquid cargoes at the territory of Novorossiysk seaport. Operator of hydraulic engineering facilities is Novorossiysk Commercial Seaport OJSC, the largest stevedoring company of the port of Novorossiysk. In 2006, the company’s throughput totaled 74.9 million tonnes.
