Busan hits transshipment record

The Korean port of Busan broke its record for transshipment cargo last month, handling 521,682 teu, up 16.5% on the previous year. Total monthly box traffic was 1.15m teu, up, 12.6% on the previous May. The port said import/export cargo had particularly increased, with the rising trend set to continue through the rest of this year following the scrapping of South Korea’s tax on containers.
